Cheviot Sheep & The Guardian Dogs

Herds of sheep and goats need the protection that LGDs are designed to provide.
Anatolians, Central Asian, Great Pyrenees are large dogs that are used to guard sheep and other livestock, and the breed’s temperament reflects this function. However, the earlier you bond them together the better.

Lambing

Lambing

Cheviot ewes bear their lambs easily, have a high number of twins, and produce plenty of milk to support them.  Both the lambs and their mothers are good foragers and efficient feeders. If there is vegetation to be found—above or beneath the snows—browse, grass, heather, or weed—they will find it. Cheviot ewes are outstanding mothers, with even first-time mothers knowing exactly what to do during and after lambing. Most of the time, you’ll have few problems to worry about during lambing with these animals.
